The goal

IE University seeks to complement the theoretical knowledge on the 2030 Agenda and sustainable development integrated into its International Relations programs with a practical part that actively engages students as decision makers, change agents and climate leaders.

The objective was to design an initiative that would align with the needs of Generation Z and stimulate their participation, while at the same time accompanying the work of faculty in their classes.

"As a university committed to sustainability education, we have successfully integrated The Good Goal app into our curriculum focused on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This gamification tool has been instrumental in teaching our students how to modify their behaviors to reduce their carbon footprint. The interactive platform not only engages but also empowers students with practical knowledge and strategies, significantly enhancing their understanding and commitment to sustainable practices."
Borja Santos - Academic Coordinator Sustainable Development & Management/Skills Courses

The solution

We designed an implementation that involved different classes and students from the International Relations program with the purpose of fostering a collaborative competition, as well as generating conversations and debates to promote a more aware, responsible and critical mindset. During the activity, a CO2 savings goal was set for each class and a team competition was established among all classes.

The result

Participation during the challenge

“I love the initiative and I like the idea of being able to see how much CO2, waste and water I saved with my actions. I feel that this could bring a significant change to the IE community of students. To feel that they should participate more and collide within the SDG goals in a personal level."
Student at IE and participant in the initiative.
